Session 3 : Make up styling

Makeup is a part of the media course and today’s class was my first exposure to the profession of makeup. The tutor started by introducing us to many famous make-up artists such as Isamya Ffrench and I was very impressed. Afterwards we each chose three sheets of paper with the model’s face on which to do our “first attempts at make-up” and the tutor said that it was best to match our make-up style to the three outfit looks we had done in the previous session of styling. This was a bit of a challenge for me and I chose to make up something a bit lighter. Later I started formal make-up on my own face.

In conclusion, I think that the technique of make-up styling is a very strong and comprehensive art and that one must have good aesthetic skills in the conditions of make-up styling including a good grasp of the overall look and the choice of colors and textures of make-up. So to learn make-up well also requires a great deal of time commitment, as I wasn’t very good at it before, so I decided to spend more time on it afterwards, and make-up is part of the enhancement of aesthetics.
