Session 7 : Words and Pictures [ Creating Narrative ]
In this session we discussed all the elements of creating a fashion editorial and building a narrative, telling a story through styling and photography. Tim Walker’s 14-minute photographic short film – The Muse. The Muse is a very beautiful short film that creates an alternative landscape, including memory or dream-like moments, using fashion products such as instantly recognizable clothing in a dramatic way. Fashion editorials often feature full page photographs of specific themes or concepts, designers, models or other single subjects, they are fashion images that tell a story or suggest that the photographs have a narrative. I used some of the photographs taken during the weeks to create narratives in text using some of the inspiration I gained while taking the photographs, using various font styles, colors and sizes to match the images for editing. I think I have a pretty good grasp of the content of today’s lesson and am interested in creating this type of fashion work, so I will be spending the next reasonable amount of time completing the rest of the assignments set in this lesson.
